So if I welcome technology like a cold beer on a hot day ((exaggeration for effect, nothing is better than beer…ever… though technology does allow me to pretty much get any beer I want at any time, so back to my point… technology is good). Sorry, the previous meandering almost turned into a geometry proof)), then why have I always run from Facebook like a scream queen in a slasher movie? Running with a lot less dignity, I might add.
I think this fear of Facebook might stem from my Lutheran upbringing, when the most personal question anyone ever asked was “Is it hot enough for ya?” The obligatory answer being “Yup, it’s a hot one.” Facebook seems to flaunt that stoicism and privacy by opening everything up to the world and saying look at me, check me out and tell me I am awesome. Conceptually, the “look at me and like me” Facebook premise still gives me the heeby-jeebies. However, it is a good way to market and one of my jobs here at Enterprise Development is to increase loan volume.
I am working at redesigning the web page, the logo and creating a Facebook page. So, ummmm, will you go to the Enterprise Development Facebook page and like us? Man, it is hard to type when you are swaying back and forth looking at your shoes. Writing that line was like me asking a girl to dance at the Moberly Junior High School homecoming. Sweaty palms… Flop sweat… Please like me?….
